Jørn Øien has distinguished himself for 30 years as an improviser at the very top of the Norwegian jazz and music scene. His strong communicative ability as a composer and performer is reflected in a willingness to take risks. There is an intensity in Øien's melodic universe and a rhythmic agility he shares with few others, as he alternates between acoustic piano and synthesizer in his musical expression.

In 2023, Øien released the album Cosmopolitan to consistently good reviews, which in many ways is a pure homage to Joe Zawinul and his musical legacy. Zawinul is considered a pioneer in the fusion of jazz-rock and world music, which has deeply influenced Øien and characterizes his "Cosmopolitan" material. Here you'll hear a fresh mix of jazz, Sami folk music and yoik, African folk music, funk, and soul. An energetic journey through many musical cultures.

For the Cosmopolitan project, Øien has assembled a highly charged supergroup of Norwegian musicians, and at Herr Nilsen, they are ready to deliver a stunning concert. Expect powerful synth sounds and a consistently strong groove!
