A scenic and lush world | Oslojazz 2025
Mette Henriette is a Sámi-Norwegian saxophonist, composer, improviser, and bandleader. With her genre-defying approach, she moves effortlessly from free jazz to folk music-inspired contemporary compositions. She has also made a mark through interdisciplinary collaborations with artists such as Marina Abramović, Anton Corbijn, and Jo Strømgren.
She gained major attention in 2015 when she became the first artist ever to debut with a double album on the renowned record label ECM. In 2023, the follow-up album Drifting was released, which was named Album of the Year by DownBeat and received glowing reviews from The Guardian, Pitchfork, and Stereogum.
Drifting was recorded at MUNCH, with a trio consisting of Mette Henriette, Johan Lindvall on piano, and Judith Hamann on cello. The album invites listeners into the trio's deep and intimate dialogue—spellbinding chamber music that draws you in and doesn’t easily let go.
Everything is in place for a powerful concert experience in the University Aula, with Mette Henriette’s music painting its own scenic and lush world, performed by a world-class trio.
