Vepsestikk is an uncompromising quartet from Bergen that experiments with elements of indie, punk, prog rock, and jazz. With stereo trumpet and other wonderful oddities, they evoke thoughts of other Bergen greats like Razika and The Aller Værste.
In 2023, the band debuted with the EP Ny Person, which was described as "the most distinctive debut of the year" by Bergens Tidende, and received heaps of praise from outlets such as Klassekampen’s Musikkmagasinet and NRK P3. With relatable lyrics about interpersonal relationships and material fatigue, they struck a chord with many through their unique approach to catchy and danceable jazz punk.
Vepsestikk has a raw and infectious energy that is best experienced live. The band has made a mark on festival stages such as Bergenfest, Nattjazz, Vossajazz, Vill Vill Vest, and by:Larm. Recently, they’ve also ventured beyond Norway’s borders, winning over concert audiences in both Sweden and Denmark. Now, Vepsestikk is ready for the Oslo Jazz Festival, and it’s going to be a great concert experience.
